Making Sense of Time

$3,000.00Price

Mixed media on wood panel with embedded working clock

20”W x 20”H x 3”D

Making Sense of Time is a mixed media painting from my Making Sense series that explores language, time, and effort. The work features a custom typeface I designed in response to my dyslexic relationship to reading. Letters resist quick comprehension and require attention, repetition, and patience.

A poem is embedded within the surface, partially hidden through layered typography and depth. The scale and construction demand precision, reflecting the labor and focus required to bring the piece into clarity.

A fully functioning clock is built directly into the panel, grounding the work in literal time. Minutes pass whether the text is understood or not. That tension between measurement and meaning is central to the piece.

This work is as much about process as outcome. The meaning is formed through making, through effort, and through the decision to stay with something that does not resolve immediately.
