An Act of Defiance: The Story Behind This Green Work
This 12" by 48" piece is a rarity in my collection—one of the few, if not the only, works I’ve ever created in green. It was born out of frustration with my other projects. If you know my work, you’ll know I’ve often said that green is the most challenging color to work with. It’s either too artificial, too much like army green, or veers too close to blue or red.
In an act of defiance against my own hesitation, I decided to say, "fuck it," and committed to making a green painting. With no plan in mind, just a blank canvas and a few never-used tubes of green paint, I set to work. This piece is the result of that impulsive, rebellious decision.
